these questions.
Ok, I put my "Sassy Pants" on and this is what I came up with--what say you?
10. I'll just get my friend to make me one of those.
What a wonderful friend, can I meet them?
9. You know what you should make?
Yes, actually I do and I will start on that just as soon as I accomplish everyting I have set out to do.
8. Do I get a price break if I buy two?
That is an interesting concept.
7. I can make that myself.
Wow, that is great, what process do you use?
6. Why does it cost so much?
Now why would you ask that?
5. How do you make this?
Well, it all started with a thought and then I had to learn to--blah, blah, blah, blah and on and on.
4. Will you donate your artwork to our event? We can't pay you but it will increase your visibility.
Perhaps if your event could do a raffle on this art, it might be a consideration.
3. My nine year old makes this kind of stuff too.
Wonderful, he/she must be very talented. And then you move to your next client.
2. Kids, this is what happens if you don't go to college.
What happens is you get to live a wonderful life as an artist--oh, and by the way, I graduated cum laude from (insert the name of your own college here)
1. I can buy that at Walmart for $3.99.
Boy, you must have the upscale version of that store where everything is made in China.
These are just answers that popped into my head while reading the list. I am sure that you can co better than I did. Maybe we can compile the best answers so next time we are confronted with these questions, we will have the perfect answers.
Comment with your answers and then stay tuned for the best of the best.

I got a chuckle out of 1 & 2! I can't tell how many times I've gotten loaded down my someone asking me a bazillion questions on the publishing process. Like I'm supposed to just give all that info away! I took many, many classes (still do!) and spent hours and hours of my own research.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say hours of my own TIME on research.
ReplyDeleteI know, like just because you did all the work of research you should just automatically give all the information out for free. Be sure to read Richard's answers---love his.
Delete10. I'll just get my friend to make me one of those.
ReplyDelete"So I'm not your friend?"
9. You know what you should make?
"Yup"
8. Do I get a price break if I buy two?
"Nope"
7. I can make that myself.
"Then why are you asking me all these questions about how I made mine?"
6. Why does it cost so much?
"Because I want to get filthy rich off of people like you."
5. How do you make this?
"First you buy it from me, then I will tell you all about it."
4. Will you donate your artwork to our event? We can't pay you but it will increase your visibility.
Actually, this one I would have to consider depending on if it were a charity.
3. My nine year old makes this kind of stuff too.
"Oh, you make me feel so young again!"
2. Kids, this is what happens if you don't go to college.
"It's great, isn't it? No job interviews, no bosses, no quarterly reports, no performance reviews, just paint and rake in the dough!"
1. I can buy that at Walmart for $3.99.
"Here's my $4.00. Don't forget to bring me my change"
Love, love, love your responses Richard---so, so perfect. Right now you are in first place with your answers. Thanks for the response.
DeleteRichard's answers were awesome! Thought of one for #2: Kids, this is what happens when you don't go to college. Okay, first you know how some people think it's so important to have initials after your name, like MD, PH.D, etc? Well I came up with this to answer #2:
ReplyDeleteYup, My name is Barbara Techel, FMH & LAML (following my heart and living a meaningful life).
I love those important initials for after all, they are the most important ones. Will have to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the thought.
DeleteOk, I am going to try this again, number one disappeared
ReplyDelete10 I'll ask my friend to make me one of those.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a friend that would ask me to make things too.
9 You know what you should make?
I can't learn to make another new thing my head will explode.
8 do I get a price break if I buy 2?
No you would have to buy 3 for a price break
7 I can make that myself.
Go nuts but make sure you change it to be yours or you'll be getting a call from a lawyer
6. Why does it cost so much?
if you worked on something for 60 hours how much would you charge?
5 how do you make this?
Keep watching the class schedule, maybe there will be a class.
4 will you donate...
I have a new donation policy, I will donate if I know the person who the benefit is for.
3 my nine year old makes this kind of stuff too.
Have you checked out scholarships yet, it's never too early to start looking for an art institute.
2. Kids this is what happens if you don't go to college.
This is what happens when you are patient enough to wait 40
years to find your bliss.
1 I can get this at Walmart for 3.99
That's odd, i've never seen anything like this at Walmart, I would read the tag really carefully mohair is up to $200.00 a yard, I doubt if that is genuine. Besides, I can sign that if you wish.

Love your ideas Kathy--now if only we could really say what
Deletewe thought when asked, right? Most of these have been excellent and I think you all did much better than I did. Great to have the participation. Thanks.
